About Me/Contact

It’s with a beaming ecstatic heart that I welcome you to Watercolor Misfit!  It’s crazy to think that this entire business idea was born  nearly 5 years ago from the worst videography on the planet – YouTube video.   But with constant support from my husband and business partner, Stephen – whom this never would have been possible – and in addition to my awesome FAN BASE (ALSO KNOWN AS MISFITIANS) – I’ve ended up with my dream job! However, it wasn’t an easy trek.

I was born in Florida, a child of the 80s.  I love anything to do with Super Mario, cassette tapes, and even those old 80s music vibes.  At a young age, my family moved to South Carolina – where I’ve lived ever since.   Fast-forward through my awkward teen years, ballet intensive training, music loving piano lessons, and several bad art school teachers.    I graduated from Columbia International University in 2009 with a Masters of Arts in Teaching – for early childhood and elementary education.   However, upon graduation – our state had a mandatory hiring freeze – forcing me to find employment elsewhere.  That’s when I began offering tutoring and art classes as a side job just to pay the bills.  Around this time, I met my my best friend and now husband at a church ministry event.  From there things seemed to fly and before I knew it we were married.   But I have to say, life wasn’t fine and dandy like a bunch of roses after marriage.   Shortly after our wedding, my health began to take a turn for the worst.  It was then, I was diagnosed with a condition called PCOS.  For years, I had apparently lived with the condition – unknowing.   It basically meant that somedays I would live in excruciating pain – where as others I would appear completely normal.  I also found out that due to the condition – my husband and I couldn’t have kids.   As a result of all of this, I lost friends, my job, and sadly even my enthusiasm for life itself.   I felt isolated and alone.   However, it was during my darkest moment that my husband came up with the idea of uploading a solitary painting to YouTube once a week – just to keep me motivated and optimistic.   He bought me anything I needed – and anything we couldn’t afford – he helped me rig something (like a tri-pod stand that could film upside down).   🙂   What started off as a weekly hobby, soon grew into the budding business and my full-time job.  Not only that – but I get to work with my best friend in the whole world – my husband!

Although, life isn’t perfect – and I still have bad weeks every month.   I’m thrilled to have a job that allows me to connect with others in similar conditions or those who just love watercolor as much as I do! Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit me here and Please feel free to email me anytime at [email protected], or find me on FACEBOOK or INSTAGRAM.  Or you can check out my YOUTUBE channel.  Still can’t believe I’m nearly at 100K Subscribers.

Thank you so much for reading 🙂
