A common question I receive on a daily basis for my watercolor courses – is what course should I take? So in this post – I’d like to break down what each course offers and who should take it.
FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER
This course is designed for the absolute beginner to watercolor. It explores how to mix your paints inside your palette as well as how to apply those paint to water ratios to dry and wet paper. This course mainly targets what is going on inside your palette – which is a crucial foundational skill for every other skill in watercolor.
FOR THE NOVICE
This course is designed for the novice – or someone who has a bit of knowledge with watercolor but wants to learn more. Specifically how to paint watercolor washes (Flat Wash, Gradient Wash, and Variegated Wash) and how transparent and opaque paint can effect these washes. I’ve also included a lecture on water control in this course – and some tips on how to evaluate whether you have too much water in your brush.
This course is designed for the novice – who wants to put into action what they learned in the previous wash course above. In this course, I want you through four different abstract paintings – plus learn watercolor hacks to make your painting process anxiety free!
TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL
This course is basically a review of the previous two – (but with less detail). This course was designed for the artist that wants to take the basics and actually apply them in an illustration. In this course you learn how I take the basics of watercolor and apply them to paint a fox.
MEDIUM TO ADVANCED
This course is DIFFICULT! However, if you are wanting a challenge – this course is a great way to explore watercolor concentrates and how I use them in an illustration. I have had beginners complete this course after completing the Fox Course with success. So it can be done by beginners – but like I said it is challenging.
