Redefining Success

We often see perfection as success and anything less as failure. But what if we turned this idea on its head and instead saw any type of PROGRESS as SUCCESS. With just this simple mindset change - suddenly anxiety of the dreaded "mistake" doesn't seem so bad. This mindset gives us wiggle room to play and learn without fear of failure. Because if we are honest with ourselves - the biggest failure is never trying in the first place.

MEET THE ARTIST

Hi there, I’m Carrie Luc. The artist behind Watercolor Misfit. I’m a proud working mama of two fur babies (Teddie our Golden/Lab mix and Pepper our Hound Mix) & married to my best friend in the whole wide world and soulmate - Stephen. We live in South Carolina and enjoy spending time in our backyard as well as catching up on some of our fav tv shows and movies. We are mainly home bodies - but that is okay because we always have lots of projects to keep us busy.

Here on my blog you can find posts on my life over the last decade as well as newer posts on art hacks and tricks I’ve learned along the way. I hope you enjoy your time here and get perhaps a spark to start creating! Lots of Love! –Carrie

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

WATERCOLOR CHALLENGE

May 1, 2020

I can’t believe it’s already a new month! This is crazy how quickly time seems to be passing in the art studio! I have to admit – I started strong in April on the watercolor challenges – but ended with a flop. So not gonna dwell on it and just pick myself up for this month. I’ve shortened the challenge to only 3 topics this…

BEST WATERCOLOR JOURNAL

April 29, 2020

WATERCOLOR JOURNALS – There is just something special – when it comes to opening a crisp new journal and flipping through its smooth white pages.    I’ve tried a number of watercolor journals in my years of painting – but have to say I’ve never quite fallen in love with one as much as this.    // You See I’m Quite Picky. Yeah – you…

How to Paint a Watercolor Bunny

April 20, 2020

How to paint a watercolor bunny There is something about animals that has always inspired me.   One of the first animals I ever drew was my dog sleeping soundly on our front step.   Shortly after drawing her – I suddenly wanted to try other animals and give each and every one of them personalities just like my lazy sleepy dog.   One thing led to the…
